The Three Great Stages of Spiritual Alchemy

The journey of transformation moves through three overarching stages in classical alchemy:

Nigredo (Blackening) – The breakdown, death, and disintegration of the false self
This includes Calcination (burning away illusions) and Dissolution (melting into the unknown)
Albedo (Whitening) – The purification and clarification of the inner essence
This includes Separation (discerning what is true) and Conjunction (reuniting the inner opposites with love and presence)
Rubedo (Reddening) – The embodiment of the soul; the radiant integration of spirit and matter
This includes Fermentation (soul awakening), Distillation (refinement), and Coagulation (the birth of the whole self)

The Seven Phases of Spiritual Alchemy

Calcination – Burning away ego and illusion
Dissolution – Surrendering into the unknown
Separation – Developing discernment and clarity
Conjunction – Integrating and accepting all parts of self
Fermentation – Rebirth of spirit and deeper truth
Distillation – Refining essence, releasing identification
Coagulation – Embodiment of the luminous Self
